Tech startup 23snaps and literacy charity LitWorld are using technology to tackle illiteracy in inner city New York.
15 APRIL 2014, LONDON, UK
23snaps the private sharing network for families has partnered with LitWorld; a non-profit International, Inc., a global 501(c)3 organization, to help aid families with their new program, Story21, aimed at using the latest technology to improve literacy in inner city New York.
LitWorld’s Story21 pilot programme runs from October 2013 to June 2014 and so far has provided inner-city New York families with literacy training through 23snaps services and iPad minis. Parents and children use the technology to enhance their reading and writing skills and the 23snaps online photobook app to take pictures of each other and write captions to journal their progress through the program.
Madison Grabouyes, a Global Community Builder at LitWorld says, “We are using the 23snaps app in our program and loving it so far! The families share photos and add captions to document their latest literary achievements.”
In addition to supplying technology that helps enhance the Story21 program, 23snaps has committed to providing every family in the program with a free photo book that includes the photographs and captions captured during the program.
23snaps Chief Marketing Officer Meaghan Fitzgerald says “23snaps are thrilled to be involved in the Story21 program, we are happy to provide a living journal that allows parents and families to privately capture precious family memories, not to mention document a child’s success in learning!”
